  1. TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS

1.1 ACADEMIC ARTICLES

In the articles section, scientific research that addresses current debates on issues related to digital culture will be considered for publication. Articles are expected to present a systematic review of the state of the art, a solid construction of the theoretical framework, a rigorous methodological design, discuss results in light of previous studies and draw conclusions that represent significant contributions to knowledge.

Only collaborations that meet the following characteristics will be accepted:

Contributions must be novel for the journal's area. They will be derived from scientific research whose conclusions are supported by empirical data or are based on scientific bibliography. In the case of theoretical articles, dialogues will be established with authors and scientific texts of recent publication; the contribution should present its own reflection and a substantial contribution to the field of digital culture studies.

Articles should be structured as a systematization of research findings, without losing the line of argument, without exposing secondary themes or subjective opinions.

Letter-size paper with top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm and left and right margins of 3 cm.

Double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman.

The length of the texts will be between 6,000 to 8,000 words, including bibliography, tables and graphs.

The title of the article must be in Spanish and English, and must include significant terms of the article (maximum 80 characters counting spaces).

Articles should begin with a content summary (between 150 and 200 words) in Spanish and English that explain the objective of the text, method, results, main conclusions and their contribution to digital culture studies.

Three to five keywords that serve as descriptors of the text should be included in both languages, using thesauri. The terms must be in standardized Spanish and English.

Articles should include subtitles to facilitate reading (numbering is not necessary).

Contributions will include, in addition to the aforementioned summary, the theoretical-methodological approach to the object of study, its analysis, and the discussion of results. In the case of theoretical articles, the use of categories for theoretical analysis must be articulated coherently and the conclusions must derive from their argumentative structure.

It is recommended that images, photographs and illustrations have at least 300 dots per inch (1000 x 1000 pixels).

Tables, graphs, photographs and illustrations should be numbered, have a title at the bottom of the figure, be referenced from the body of the article and indicate the source.

Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and used exceptionally (avoid their use as much as possible). They should have consecutive numbering and will be used exclusively for comments and clarifications. The format of the notes is 10-point Times New Roman with single spacing.

Citations in the text should be in APA 7th edition. Only material cited in the body of the article will be present in the bibliography, which will be grouped at the end of the article in alphabetical order according to APA norms.

We recommend paraphrasing references written in other languages instead of authors translating them. Even so, if you decide to quote a translation of your own, you must also include the quote in the original language in a footnote.

It is suggested to avoid the use of words in a language other than Spanish and unnecessary neologisms. If the use of a term in a foreign language is necessary (because there is no appropriate translation) it should be accompanied by an explanatory note and/or footnote translation.

For the review of the state of the question and the construction of the theoretical framework included in scientific articles, it is suggested to consult at least thirty academic sources from scientific journals or publishers of recognized prestige. The bibliography should be up-to-date and relevant to the topics addressed in the article. Avoid the use of non-academic or journalistic sources.

The design of the method must be rigorous and involve all components that guarantee the scientific character of the article.

Any reference or data that may suggest the authorship of the text will be eliminated. This information will be sent in a separate file. Likewise, the file must be anonymized to avoid any data that identifies the author.

Any type of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is inadmissible.

1.2 DOSSIER

Based on current topics or to address a problem in depth and make emerging debates in the academic community visible, a section of scientific articles will be published that are oriented to the treatment of a specific problem. The call describes the scope and perspective on the object of study proposed by an invited specialist researcher. The specialist researcher will act as editor of this section. The contributions will be judged following the same process established in the academic articles section. Likewise, the instructions for submitting texts are the same as those in said section.

1.3 TRANSLATIONS

In exceptional cases, translations of original texts written in languages other than Spanish by authors considered as references in their area of specialty and whose contributions are significant to knowledge and understanding of some object of study within the field of digital culture will be published. The translation should be assumed as a contribution to the dissemination, among the academic community in our language, of the thought and work of founding authors. Translations will not be subjected to double-blind review, but their selection must be approved by the editorial committee.

These points should be considered:

The translation should be a contribution to the field of knowledge about digital culture.

The length will be variable, depending on the original text.

The journal's style rules will be followed (letter-size paper, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm and left and right 3 cm, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing).

If the original text is not cited and referenced in APA 7th edition, it is requested to make the change. This is to give uniformity to the critical apparatus of the publication.

The translation should be done by a certified translator.

1.4 INTERVIEWS

The interviews considered for publication will be those that allow addressing, hand in hand with specialist researchers, contemporary debates around digital culture. Likewise, they will seek to delve into digital phenomena and theoretical conceptualizations from different perspectives. It is suggested that interviews be short, with clear questions and structured in a logical order that allows the construction of an argumentative line.

In the case of interviews, the following is recommended:

The interview should be with people who are references in their field and address some issue of current debate on digital culture.

The length will be between 4 and 6 pages.

They will follow the journal's style rules (letter-size paper, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm and left and right 3 cm, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing)

A short profile of the interviewee will be included, as well as the justification of their relevance in the field of digital culture.

Questions should be clear, concise and established in a logical order that allows understanding of the topics addressed.

Images or photographs, if included, should have at least 300 dots per inch (1000x 1000 pixels), in addition to presenting title, brief description and source.

1.5 BOOK REVIEWS

In the reviews section, collaborations that describe and analyze recent and relevant publications for the journal's field of study will be found. Reviews will be brief texts (600-800 words) that analyze the theoretical, methodological or empirical contributions of the work and its inscription in the current theoretical debate of the addressed object of study. A critical look at the contributions of the work in the field of digital culture is fundamental.

When it comes to book reviews, it is suggested to consider the following requirements:

Reviews should be of recent and relevant publications for digital culture.

The length of the texts will be no more than 7 pages.

They will follow the journal's style rules (letter-size paper, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm and left and right 3 cm, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing)

The bibliographic description of the book must contain the author's name, title (in original language and in Spanish, in case there is a translated edition of it), subtitle, place and date of edition, publisher and number of pages.

Reference should be made to the publications and academic activities of the book's author, as well as highlighting the contributions of the work to its area of knowledge.

Any reference or citation within the text must comply with the journal's style rules (APA).

  1. REFERENCES

All bibliographic references must be referred from the body of the article, according to the APA 7th edition style, and their complete reference must appear in the bibliography in alphabetical order. When dealing with several works by the same author, they are ordered by year of publication, oldest first.
